| Updates yay! |

| | cynical | ] | So I havn't updated in a while, been kinda sore since last weekends drills. I was in red phase training (basics of the army) most of saturday except for the PT test. Which I failed pushups and running, but I passed situps. I ran a mile in 11 minutes 15 seconds. Sunday I was still in red phase training for a little bit of the day, but at the beginning of the day we had a group run, for 3 miles, with me at the front. I felt like I was gonna die towards the end. I had to drop out of the group and jog for a little while at the back to catch my breath. I enjoyed it though even if I was about to die haha. I also got my uniform that weekend, as well as my dog tags, but no patches for my uniform and everyone was like "wtf?" because they had their patches but had been waiting on dog tags for like 2 months. Hopefully I'll have my patches before too long. After that we had squad training outside, and they picked me for the AT4 rocket launcher. So i'm trudging through woods and a field with a rocket launcher strapped to my back, too bad it had already been fired so it was non-fireable :(
I'm also a recruiting assistent now, and for everyone I help recruit I get $2,000. Fun fun, and I got two potentials, Sam and Mitch. Both wanna go infantry with me, yay! Then we could all go rangers and special forces maybe haha! I need to find a way to get good old Roger to join, he would enjoy it i'm betting. |

| Stress |

| | stressed | ] | It sucks having the feeling that you don't know if you can eat tommorow weather or not you'll make enough money to pay your bills at the end of the month and afford gas to even make it to school. I gave my notice at KFC that i'm going to Home Depot next week, and he told me he'd work me till this thursday. Go in to check my schedule and the fucker ass raped me, no hours at all, so I wont even recieve a pay check next week. Now i'm going into KFC whenever Lisa works to ask for free food because I can't afford to eat. Hopefully this time next month i'm more financially set having my guard pay as well as HD pay. I got my credit card today I applied for, has a $150 limit, which isn't really enough to get the computer parts I need but enough to alleviate some problems i'm having with finances. I just have to persevere a little longer, it will be easier for me in the coming months hopefully. I'm about to take rogers idea he told me about ketchup soup haha! |

| Stressful day |
[Oct. 3rd, 2006|10:13 pm] |
So I had to work 6 hours today, and it was stressful for some reason, I don't know why, but right now i'm sitting at the computer listening to weird al and smoking my pipe. It always feels good to just sit and have a nice smoke. Not much else to talk about, classes are going ok, i'm pulling about a B average.
So, guess i'm just gonna sit here and cruise around on youtube. |

| Got to see Angel |
[Oct. 1st, 2006|08:28 pm] |
So I finally got to see Angel again, I went and picked her up in Lee and she spent till 1:00 at my place, I left at 5:30 in the morning if that helps figure how long she was there. We mostly just cuddled together and stuff because we hadn't got to see eachother in a while, I enjoyed it. I'll get to see her again next weekend on columbus day, but the weekend after I wont because I have my RSP Drills.
Well not really that much going on, my dad is gonna rejoin the National Guard after I get back from Basic he said. I'm wondering if they'll let him in because of his high blood pressure, they might have him sign a waiver saying that if he dies from it its not the militarys fault, its his own, so who knows. |

| So a lot of things are happening |
[Sep. 24th, 2006|08:32 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | pleased | ] | I'm now Private Joshua Crooker of the US Army, National Guard component. I feel really proud of myself and that this is a big step in my life. I was sworn in Friday by an O-2 after 6 hours of a physical, jesus that was long. I got talking to him after I was sworn in and talking about joining ROTC and being a platoon leader. He said he had friends that were doing that, you were the first on the battlezone and the last one to leave, the leader of 40 men, giving orders while leading the way. Thats what i'd want to do, I couldn't stand giving orders from behind a desk somewhere, I would want to be right there and make sure it got done right. I've had to deal with the regular band of idiots when they found out saying how i'm an idiot or my personal favorite "a bush loving conservative". Then i've got the people that talk to me for hours about and it and it gets them thinking about joining, which if they did under me I would gain a rank, up to Private First Class.
MEPS was interesting, I made a lot of friends there, wasn't just army, was also marines and navy and air force, there was actually a girl there joining the air force. One of the marines recruits was actually shorter and lighter then me, he was scrawny and going into something even harder then i'm doing. I wonder if he'll make it. Two of the guys there had just gotten out of basic and were heading to Alaska for airborne training.
I go to get fitted for my uniform tommorow at the base. I wont actually be able to start working with my company in Brewer (Mountain Infatry) till I get back from basic and AIT this summer. The Mountain Company is currently in Iraq so they should be back by the time I get back from basic. Angels gonna have to get by without me for 13 weeks or so while i'm at basic and AIT.
Well I guess thats it for tonight, my brain feels kinda fried. |

| Tough Night |

| | crappy | ] | I don't know why but i'm having trouble tonight, like i'm lacking willpower. The more I see Jescey and TJ together the more I feel the need to see Angel and realize how much I miss her. A part of me just wants to find a girl around here, but Angel is just too good to me, so i'm having a tough time. Bleh, just felt like getting that out of my system. |

| Acid and jobs |
[Sep. 18th, 2006|04:05 pm] |
So I got to have my first Acid Cigar last night, it was even better then the Punch, oh boy was that good. I got a letter from Unicel the other day saying that even though I had an impressive resume they were looking for different skills :(. Got a job interview with Home Depot on wendsday, and going to see Sergeant Nason tommorow.
Not much else going on... |

| Midnight update |
[Sep. 17th, 2006|12:46 am] |
Tried one of my punch cigars earlier, and boy was that good :D, lasted for about 45 minutes, so it was worth the $5. TJ went out and got himself a zippo, go figure its a camo one, haha. He managed to get lighter fluid in the cap of it and when it lit it made a tiny little boom. Intelligent much. Me and him have been sitting around downloading random music like michael jackson and elvis trying to find old songs that are actually good. We've actually found a lot. My rolling stones collection of music is growing, and i'm thinking about getting their forty licks zippo, would be nice to have as a collectors item. Well guess thats all, maybe something will happen today that will be worth posting :/ |

| I like me a good cigar |
[Sep. 16th, 2006|05:44 pm] |
|
So not much going on, got paid thursday so went and bought myself a pipe zippo lighter, can still use it for cigars and stuff as well. Today I went over to the smoke shop on union street and got a travel humidor for 3 cigars, and 2 punch cigars, which were $5 a piece o.O, havn't tried them yet but i'm sure they'll be good. I also finished my honduras today, good smoke, was a little rough though after it sitting in the tube half smoked. Still waiting on a call form home depot, probably wont get one till monday though. Well I guess thats all to talk about. |

| Update |
[Sep. 14th, 2006|10:10 pm] |
|
I should have an interview with Home Depot soon, went and saw them and they're gonna set me up. Mom has also given me the ok to sign the paperwork for the guard. Well, not really that much else to update on. |

| Hoo-ah! |
[Sep. 12th, 2006|10:07 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | crappy | ] | So mom and dad came down today to take me out to dinner and spend some time with me because they couldn't be here for my birthday. I had gotten a bunch of papers from SSG Nason outlining non-deployable status of the ROTC and College First programs. I gave them them and mom said that they would go down the saturday after this coming one and we would sit down with the recruiter and get all the papers signed and go to Portland for my physical and urinalysis. So in two weeks time I will be in the RSP program and on October 13 i'll get to shoot an M16, an M240, and an M249 SAW. Training will be tough, but I know it will get easier as time progresses.
I'm thinking about giving my notice at KFC to leave because i'm just not getting enough hours to live. So i'm going to go to Home Depot, apparently they pay around $9.50 starting pay and my dad is good friends with the store manager so its almost guarenteed i'll get in. Would be nice to have enough money after bills for play.
Was sick this morning so was unable to go to classes, that sucked, was throwing up and everything. Feeling better now, still feeling it a little bit in my stomach. So I gotta tell my teachers I was sick and hopefully they'll excuse it. |

| One Interesting Day |
[Sep. 10th, 2006|11:35 pm] |
So I had one extremely interesting day today, for those that don't know, today was my birthday yay! Well first things first I got up at 6:15 and headed down to the Army National Guard base, which is near the Bangor airport. I got there about 6:50, talked with one Sergeant there and told him I was there as a guest for the RSP program invited by Staff Sergeant Nason, so he greeted me and showed me to a couple of RSP students, and they showed me where they were going and stuff. We all assembled in a room where the other RSP people were. About 10 minutes later another Sergeant came in and got everyone outside and said they were going to do drills in the morning, so everyone filed out. I didn't know what to do so I followed and stood on the sidelines for a little bit till a Sergeant told me I should participate so I would know what its like better. So I got into rank, and they started with stretches, not too hard. After the stretches we had to run in place for 2 minutes, and not just normal run, they wanted our knees up near our chins, to really get our legs working. That was the longest 2 minutes I have ever experienced. Then we were broken up into groups, starting with group 1 and moving back to 4, there were 4 ranks of people. We were to sound off after the number before us was called, well that didn't work too well, and one of the Sergeants, token black guy, began to yell and, these were his words "What are you all a bunch of fucking elementry students?! Do you not know how to count?! Did you fail the fourth grade or something?!" I was laughing on the inside because I never expected it.
So after that each group had to run to a different station for excersises, my group first went to pushups, and the Sergeant told us he wanted to try something new there, ranger pushups, where everyone stands in a line and the first persons feet goes on the second person shoulders and the second person feet goes on the third persons shoulders, and so on and so forth. We managed to do three before we were unable to do anymore. After that station was one where we had to pick up this fake M-16, hold it out arms length and alternate bringing our knees up to our elbows for 2 minutes, I sure felt a burn with that. After we all reassembled and they were about to go for a run around the base, I decided I couldn't do much more or I would collapse, so instead of pushing myself farther, I first made the mistake of saying sir to one of the Sergeants to get his mistake. He go up in my face about it, "Sir? What, do I look like an officer to you, am I ugly!?" I just told him I was there as a guest and had only planned on being there for an hour, and he seemed a little caught off guard but then told me that yeah I could go whenever I wanted, just go back through one set of doors and follow the hallway back out to the front. So I went home with my body shaking and aching so bad I had trouble turning the wheel on my car. I went back home and took a nice nap, I needed it.
After my little nap, which I was woken up from by TJ being an idiot, I called my parents and Angel and talked with them, they all wished me a happy birthday and I told them how my little bit of training went. Once off the phone I sat around thinking about what to do, and remembered there was a gun show today, so I went out to that. They actually let me handle the pistols there, but sadly not a single dealer there was selling HK weapons, so I was a little disappointed I couldn't take a better look at a USP. I stayed around there till about 12:30 and left, got to meet a few really cool people, one old guy was showing me how to work a bunch of the pistols at a table, since i've never fired one or even loaded one, he was a cool guy. He also taught me the difference between a single action pistol and a double action pistol.
I decided to run over to work real quick and grab something to eat as well as check out my schedule for the week, finding out when I was working, turns out I don't have to work monday and tuesday, so I might do something, probably not though. Went back to the townhouse to eat. Went over to Main Military Supply and they finally let me handle the guns, and it turns out they have a Panzersrechk for sale for $4900, I saw that and my eyes just about bugged out. Got to chatting with them about a bunch of the different guns there and learned a few different things about gun lincenses and laws, namely stuff having to do with AOW and Class 3 weapons.
On my way back to the apartment I stopped at the maine smoke shop in brewer and decided to buy myself a pipe and some tobacco for it, the lady who carded me was surprised by my age and said happy birthday to me, she was pretty cool. Found a nice wood one for cheap, $2.70, and a pouch of vanilla flavored tobacco for $1.90. I didn't expect it to be so cheap. So I packed my first pipe and lit it and it actually stayed lit for a while, I only had to relight it twice total, and thats because I wasn't getting the burnt tobacco out, so it was smothering it. That was a very good smoke, but I ended up smoking it too fast and the pipe got hot to the touch.
I got back to the townhouse and just kinda hung around and played games untill now, as I sit typing away this entry hoping that when I got to send it my computer doesn't spaz out and I'm out one computer and a window. |

[Sep. 1st, 2006|11:23 am] |
Just got back from classes, not really anything going on :/ Minimal homework was given and I wont have classes monday. Springfield fair is tommorow till monday I guess, I gotta work saturday night though so I probably wont go up untill sunday, maybe stay with Angel till monday, who knows, depends what they decide to work me. I could probably go pick up my $22 paycheck for this week but i'm too tired at the moment and feel like napping instead. All in all today is really boring.
Well I guess thats it, can't think of anything else to write :/ |

| Started work today |
[Aug. 30th, 2006|09:48 pm] |
|
Started working today, was kinda dull, its only busy there during lunch and dinner and even then its not that hard. Was basically in training so I only made like 3 meals. Was late for my first class this morning. My mind is a wreck right now over some things going on in my life. Well not much else to talk about, homework is due tommorow from my PC Hardware class. I could really use something to take my mind off things. God I need a cigar bad. |

| School started today |
[Aug. 28th, 2006|09:49 pm] |
|
So I started my first day of college today, I was at first nervous but it turned out to be enjoyable, I started at 8:00 and was out by 10:50 from my college learning and computer hardware classes. Then at 5:45 to 9:00 I had math, which comes to turn out its almost optional to show up as everything is done on the computer, I can stay at home and do all my homework and have it handed in without having to see the teacher again. But the teacher is pretty cool and will even let us leave when we want. |

| Need more LJ friends |

I think I have 3 total. But I guess a lot of that is because I've never really been active before on this website, but I think that will change with me living down here. |

| The Gates to Oblivion have opened! |
[Mar. 29th, 2006|07:39 pm] |
Hopefully someone knows what game i'm talking about by that title. I bought The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion last saturday before it came out and it got here just yesterday, i'm so happy this game kicks so much ass! I was always a big fan of Morrowind but never finished it, Oblivion 's story on the other hand sucks you right into it and the scripting of the charactors for events is just amazing and added with the new combat system this really is the greatest RPG of 2006, bar NONE! My one complaint is my laptop has a little bit of a hard time running it, so I have to have the graphics set to low untill I finish my new desktop. But at least I can get the bloom effect in it with my X300 video card, and I will never judge by clockspeed again on processors. I'm having my little 1.73 Gh/z Pentium M run the game, which requires a 2.0 Gh/z Pentium 4, and that little processor is just amazing. I had read that the 1.73 runs at the power of a P4 3.0 Gh/z but never believed it untill now!
Things are going awesome with Angel, I decided to give her her birthday present early, I got her a leather jacket at wilsons leather for a really good deal, $250 marked down to $90, it has a pink silky interior to it, she really likes it :)
I guess i'm gonna plunge back into Oblivion, someones gotta close those gates! |

| Competition and Other Things |
[Mar. 16th, 2006|08:55 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | happy | ] | So i'm back, been back for a little while, just havn't updated. I won a Bronze medal at the competition but got second place, the reason being the silver medalist didn't meet the gold standard to compete in nationals. So now i'm like a small celebrity at school, meh. It was a fun competition, I enjoyed it, and am starting to understand CISCO better, which my entire competition was. It was awesome that Angel and my mom came out to see me place, I gave Angel a hug first and mom got a little jealous haha, it was funny. I love Angel :)
Now tommorow is the Winter Carnival dance... In March... With no snow on the ground... Yeah, our school has problems. But i'm going in a full suit with a pink shirt and tie to match Angels dress, she looks awesome in it! :D
Well I might update this weekend, maybe not, who knows! It is a mystery! |
